She Senses...

I suppose it is time for another post. Last week was quiet as we were limited to outside activity by a spring time storm and it was a warm and humid one too. We easily got away with wearing short sleeves as Mother Nature stormed to make up for what little rain we got this past winter season.

No doubt, Katie is on the move as of late. She has mastered crawling on all 4s and less seldom does she do her worm crawl tucking both knees into her chest then pushing up and forward on both arms at the same time. Her Aunties and Uncles were quite amused by the routine but no more as she is crawling on all 4s on a regular basis and sometimes at the speed of us walking through the house.

In the past week, Katie has sharpened her senses and has grown exponentially mentally. She is starting to process information like a computer program, ‘if this then this happens’. Yesterday after work we arrived home and of course I went straight to the arms of my daughter. She was being held by Grandma who was ecstatic that as soon as Katie heard the garage door open she turned immediately and stared at the hallway as if she knew Mommy and Daddy are home.

She recognizes Mommy and Daddy so much that she is cautious of strangers. However, she is by no means afraid of them. It just takes a few minutes to warm up after which she’s comfortable to crawl up to the person and play a game of “if you’re happy and you know clap your hands…”. Katie is a very social baby and enjoys being around anyone who wants to play (how many times have I said this before) especially other kids who are already in the fun playful mood. Their excitement and joy are easily transferred to Katie. She kicks her legs, sticks out her silly tongue with a big smile and urges us to put her down so she can crawl after the other kids. We love it, love it, love it and can’t wait for her to be able to walk and run on her own two feet! She’s a very curious one and we look forward to the day she discovers something new to bring back to show Mommy and Daddy.

The sleepyhead

Oh have to talk about her sleeping habits. Lately, she continues her mobility in her sleep. She tosses, turns, scoots, flips, you name it as she tries to find a comfortable position to settle in for the night. She usually ends up on her tummy and sometimes with her knees tucked under chest. I’ll try to catch a picture one of these nights but its usually dark so doesn’t make for a very clear picture. It’s scary to us to see her on her tummy so much as we’re paranoid to think she may be suffocating so we take turns being on night shift to checkup on her ever few hours. Other times, she’ll wake herself up by scooting herself into the pillows and walls to a point where her entire body curls up. She’ll bang her head against the wall waking herself up then crawl for the door. Yes, she knows exactly where the door is and will crawl straight there when she wakes up. On a couple occasions, we heard noises on the monitor but once we checked the screen, she was completely out of the sight. We just about had a heart attack thinking we have a missing baby even though we knew very well she was in the room…haha...

Yay, my first Mother’s Day this weekend!! It couldn’t be better as Katie is healthy and growing with so much joy and love. Happy Mother’s Day to all my Mommy buddies!!! Its sooo not easy and we sooo deserve it!!! I’m getting my pampering done this Friday with another Mommy friend, and then we’re spending the rest of our weekend part of an o’friend’s wedding. Congrats Samantha and Duc!! It’s about freaking time!!
