Lately, every time I hold Katie, I can’t help but think she’s huge!! Of course, compared to 6lbs and 12ozs when she first came out, she’s at least triple that weight since. With the weight also comes a lot of wisdom in this little lady. She’s starting to be very tentative when spoken to and when not spoken to, she tunes in on conversations as if she really knows all about it. She’s also starting to recognize her environment and will cry instantly if something or somebody is unfamiliar to her. A couple weeks ago, she was fine when I bath her tossing and turning her around to scrub and wash. This past week, every move was uncomfortable and the toys have worn out her interest to keep her distracted, maybe she’s ready for the big tub.
Last night was quite amusing. She woke up around 2:30am screaming for attention. When Yogi got to her, she has already turned around and on her tummy. I’m sure she would have gone for her toys if it wasn’t pitched dark in her room. Anyhow, Yogi fed and changed her but she continued to cry. I woke up to see what all the fuss was about and turns out Katie was pushing her daddy away as if he was a complete stranger. Apparently, Katie didn’t recognize her daddy with his new haircut!!...haha… He got it buzzed so not much hanging like before. Once Katie calmed down and listened to her daddy’s voice, she willingly hopped back into his arms and went back to bed :oD
By the way, we did away with Katie’s baskenet. It was due time as she’s needing room to roll around and crawl around. Not to mention, she's able to pull herself up holding onto the top of the baskenet, an accident waiting to happen. Now, she's on our good o’ futon lain on the ground so she can crawl on and off as she pleases. The challenge now is how to keep blankets on her. We use to be able to tuck the ends of the blankies under the edge of her baskenet mattress to keep them on her. Now we’ll just have to check on her more often or swaddle her in the blankies with her arms out.
Quick note to congratulate our friends Michelle and Joss in delivering a healthy precious little girl of their own. Welcome Daisy!! Best wishes to a speedy recovery! See you guys again soon :oD
